Semi-Frameless Shower Screens

Semi-Frameless Shower Screens: The Cost-Effective Choice

Semi-frameless shower screens offer an affordable yet stylish solution for any bathroom, blending the sleek appearance of frameless designs with practical framing. They maintain a minimalist look by omitting frames around the door and adjacent panel edges, with framing limited to the outer surrounds for added support and water containment. At Elder Glass, we focus on delivering versatile options that combine value, durability, and modern appeal to enhance your space without compromising on quality.

Premium Glass

We utilize 6mm clear A-Grade toughened safety glass that meets Australian Standard AS 1288, ensuring reliable strength and safety against breakage. All edges are carefully polished for a smooth, hazard-free finish that's safe to touch and easy to maintain. This glass is custom-cut to fit a wide array of configurations, including mitred corners for seamless integration into unique bathroom layouts.

High-Quality Hardware

Our semi-frameless systems feature high-quality aluminum framing from Pivotech, an esteemed Australian supplier. The Evolution series is specifically engineered for aesthetic excellence, available in multiple colors to harmonize with your existing bathroom fixtures and hardware. Door options include two practical configurations: the overlap door, ideal for 90-degree enclosed showers to minimize water escape, and the inline door, suited for front-only setups where the showerhead is positioned to avoid direct overlap exposure. These screens accommodate every possible design, from standard to fully custom arrangements, ensuring a perfect fit for your needs.

Superior Silicone

For sealing, we rely on GE sanitary clear silicone, a neutral-cure formula that's ideal for bathroom environments as it resists yellowing over time—unlike acidic-cure alternatives that can discolor and degrade. This high-performance silicone requires 24 hours to fully cure, during which time the shower screen should not be touched or used to ensure optimal adhesion and longevity. When working on multiple bathrooms, such as in a home with two or more, I thoughtfully stagger the installations to minimize disruption, guaranteeing you always have access to at least one functional shower throughout the process.

The client wanted to replace the shower screen and paint the tiles to make them look new. This was a tricky configuration which we executed perfectly. The tiles were 10mm out of level on either side and the angle in the middle was 37 degrees. We mitred the glass to have a perfect 2mm gap to make it look as clean as possible.

This shower screen was installed in the wool store apartments. The 2 bathrooms had very weird layouts and custom shower screens were definitely needed. This was the smallest door I've ever done around 450mm wide.
